What makes a successful party for mature adults? i went to a birthday party last night & it was so boring! got me thinking what were the best parties you've been to lately(mature adults only)? music?games?theme? |
Successful planning.
1. Start with a theme. It doesn't necessarily have to be a cheesy theme like luau, but pick something. For example you can choose a color, an era, etc.
2. Make sure that there are different areas "sectioned" off. You can do this with lighting, seating, music, etc. This way people can move to an area they are most comfortable in.
3. Have food that is interactive. Plated meals tend to leave people quiet.
I threw a party recently for my brother in law that everyone seemed to love. My theme was red for him.
In my den I set up a card table with a few extra chairs. Cards is a pretty big thing in my family, we play everything from poker to spades. It ended up being a world series of poker game and a spades tournament. This room I decorated very lightly with a red plastic table cloth and a few red balloons. I kept it well lit.
In the living room, I removed a lot of the furniture and stored them in the bedroom. I basically just kept everything that can be sat in with a few tables for cups. I also removed a lot of the lightbulbs and exchanged them for lower wattage bulbs and a few red bulbs. Instead of having flowers, like I generally would for a more feminine party I put out fishbowls that I bought at the dollar store filled with red candy. Sweedish fish, red hots, laffy taffy, air heads, and I happened to find some chocolates that had red wrapping on them. They weren't very good, but they fit the theme of the party. Because the crowd was differing in age I made CD's with music that was pretty diverse. I went all the way back to the Stylistics and as modern as Amy Winehouse. Everyone heard some music they liked.
In the dining room also used a red table cloth some large red candles and dimmed the lights. People ate here as they liked, but we later moved the table for dancing. On the dining room wall I put up a red sheet with an attached marker so everyone could leave him a note wishing him well. The well wishes were funnier as the night went on. I also had the bar in this area. I also had some chips and salsa on the table.
On the screened in porch I put a few plastic chairs, ashtrays and decorative citronella candles with a radio with more modern music. As the night progressed I brought out some chips and salsa.
We have a pretty large eat in kitchen, so I kept the majority of the food in there. I did a mexican "bar" with all the fixings for tacos, fajitas & burritos. For dessert I made a chocolate fondue that I seasoned with a little hot pepper.
One thing a lot of people also forget is the bathroom. Get a little radio and have some music, and a scented candle. Also make sure that you have nice soap, lotion and towels that are designated for the party. Believe me people will notice and talk about it.
Oh, and plenty of Margaritas! |
How to plan a mature hotel/motel party? I am trying to get a party together at a hotel, that'll be mostly mature (no real loud noises or sounds). Any tips? Also, are there places that'll allow a room rental? (so that any # of people can just crash) |
| You need to find a hotel willing to work with you. A respite room will be included in the price of the Banquet Rental |
I'm looking to have a mature party, how can i entertain and make it a party to remember? where would be most sophisticated place to chose to hold the party? Need all advice on etiquette |
Just make it a dinner party at yopur home or a friends home where you can fit all your guests... It will be more personal and for a grown up party it`s more of a conversation party..
You can get a piano player to entertein, a singer, a small band
Wine, scotch, wiskey
hord dourves
at least a 4 course meal
Greet your guests and mingle and have sofisticated fun.... |
Has anyone got any ideas for more mature hen party games? My friends mum is getting married and we are going out for a meal, we are looking for more subtle mature games and idea's? |
| I'm assuming that it's going to be a multigenerational hen party. |
Can anyone, from ANY political party, be modest and mature? In any Y!A post about politics, you have Conservatives blaming Democrats and Democrats blaming Conservatives. I'm wondering if people from either party are mature/honest/humble enough to try BOTH of the following:
1) Name something your own party has done wrong or that you disagree with?
2) Give credit to the opposite party for something they have done well/correctly or something you agree with? |
1) They're spineless.
2) Ketchup IS a vegetable. |
Do you think Kim Kardashian is a party pooper or just mature? Do you think Kim Kardashian is a party pooper or just mature?
Tell me how you feel about her. (and no this is not Kim Kardashian herself haha :D) |
| I don't know if she is a party pooper, but I do know that she has a very big pooper lol. |
What are some party ideas for a mature 12 year old party? The party is going to be outside for my neice and there is going to be a bonfire and music. She doesnt know what she and her friends are going to do for 3 hours. Plus, she doesn't like things like toss the egg or anything. Its more like she is a 14 year old so pease help? |
| Traditional games wont really work for that age so much. I love what you are already doing, having music and a bonfire. The girls will probably just talk for most of that time anyways. I would imagine a good idea would be to make smores or roast marshmellows. And they can dance and be silly. And it might be cool if you rented a local psychic to come and do fortunes around the campfire. There are some cool things that you can do to make things a little more interesting, :) Also, does she like a particular show a lot? Is she a Twilight fan? Try to incorporate that into the fun. Like a Twilight game or "game show" to answer for prizes. <3 |
Is it too guyish to play games at your sweet 16? im having an all girl party and i need some mature games? mature games please? somehting funny and fun. what order gsould my party run in? |
| I don't think games are EVER too guyish....heck I'm having multiple games of laser tag for my birthday...Anyway, If you want a fun and somewhat mature game, there is Marry, Date, or Dump. VERY fun game, each card has movie stars or famous people, and asks is you would marry, date, or dump. Very fun, I think all your friends would like it. AS to the order, it depends what size party you're having, and what kind of people are coming. I hope I was of some help at least, have a great birthday! Peace! |
